Paid Time Off

COVID-19 Leave of Absence/Time Off

The COVID-19 Emergency Sick Leave Act is a temporary ordinance signed into law on December 9, 2020, and extended through July 2022. It is intended to provide for up to 80 hours of paid time off for employees who have been specifically impacted by COVID-19.  This covers employees who are unable to work due to their own COVID-19 illness, awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test, obtaining a COVID-19 immunization, recovering from an illness or condition related to a COVID-19 immunization, caring for a family member with COVID-19, or who have been ordered to self-isolate.

  • There are no changes to vacation policy with one exception.  There was a temporary hold on carryover limits. This exception will expire, and the normal maximum allowances are back in place effective January 1, 2022. At that time any unused vacation time over the maximum allowance will be lost.

Comp Time Maximum

  • Comp Time Maximum of 80 hours is temporarily eliminated.  Note: that comp time must be approved by your supervisor.  This exception will expire, and the normal maximum allowances are back in place effective January 1, 2022. At that time any unused comp time over the maximum allowance will be lost.
